Topic: The Downtown Parking Puzzle
At the LWVSL April General Meeting - Health and Safety in Walkable Neighborhoods - Stephanie Sotkin, GIS and Data Analyst, Salt Lake City Transportation Division and Brett McIff, Utah Dept. of Health and Human Services, PhD, showed data that from 2008-2024 there were 546 crashes in Salt Lake City involving pedestrians. They then outlined specific steps that Salt Lake City and other organizations are taking to increase pedestrian safety in the city and neighborhoods. They also emphasized that if neighborhoods are safe for pedestrians more people will walk or bike or engage in other physical activity, which will increase positive health for our citizens.
Lunch is optional, but a good way to continue the conversation. If you are a member of Town Club, 1081 E. South Temple, please let Aimee know you'll attend. If not, please remit $20 to me via Venmo - @Katharine-Biele or to 1351 E. Normandie Circle, SLC 84105. Add $3 if you'd like dessert.
