General Meeting - Democracy & Women's Rights in America: The Fight Over the ERA

Presenters: Jenny Nicolas and Holly Reynolds will present a Case Study entitled Democracy & Women's Rights in America: The Fight Over the ERA. An interactive discussion will follow with time for Q & A.

In 2020, LWVSL nominated these two West High civics teachers to participate in the Harvard Case Method Workshop. Since then they have completed numerous hours in the program with Harvard Professor David Ross and successfully used this method in their classroom.

As they state, "West High School students were recently introduced to the Equal Rights Amendment through the use of the Harvard Case Method approach. At this event you will learn how two teachers tailored the case to help engage students with the material and understand the history of this movement. You will also see representative student work and gain a sense of how they came to their conclusions about whether or not the ERA is necessary today."
